Shruti Sharma, a resident of New Delhi has topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination. IAS is a graduate of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He passed the exam with History as an optional subject. He has done his graduation in History (Hons) from Delhi University.
After completing his graduation, Sharma secured a seat at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for post-graduation. He prepared for the Civil Services Examination at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (RCA). Originally she hails from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
Sharma is followed by Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla in the second and third positions respectively. This year the top four ranks have been secured by women. Agarwal is a graduate in Economics (Hons) from Delhi University and secured second rank with Political Science and International Relations as optional subjects. A B.Tech graduate in Computer Science, Singla stood third in the rank with sociology as an optional subject.
The top 25 candidates include 15 men and 10 women.

A total of 685 candidates have been recommended for appointment by UPSC. These include 244 general, 73 EWS, 203 OBC, 105 SC and 60 ST category candidates.
Last year, AIR 1 in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020 was secured by Shubham Kumar of Bihar. He hails from Katihar district of Bihar. He is an alumnus of IIT-Bombay. Kumar holds a BTech degree from IIT-Bombay. He did his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT-Bombay.
