1,000 km EV concept to be showcased in January 2022
The concept talks about a compact car with 1,000 km range
Mercedes-Benz has teased a futuristic electric car called the Vision EQXX, which is claimed to have a range of 1,000 km. The vehicle is part of a new technology platform that is a test bed to improve the efficiency of electric vehicles. It is part of Daimler’s vision to go all-electric by 2030. When the concept was teased last year, Mercedes was talking about a range of 1,200km, but it seems the German giant has settled on a more achievable range of 1,000.
“As you know, we have been working on turning our strategic ambition of “Lead in Electric Drive” into a car for some time: now, the Vision EQXX is poised to be the most efficient electric vehicle ever built – a With a real-world range of over 1,000 km, said Marcus Schaefer, COO of Mercedes-Benz. And I am very pleased that it will be introduced to the public very soon, on January 3, 2022.
Schaefer acknowledged that if Mercedes-Benz is to be successful with EVs, it needs to rapidly improve its range of cars.
The EQS is an electric S-Class which is the first Mercedes-branded EV in the US
“That is why we have set for ourselves more than an ambitious goal with the Vision eQ2: we want to develop a compact-class electric vehicle that can cover a distance of 1,000 km on a single battery charge under real road conditions, including single-digit consumption value for kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers at normal highway speeds,” he said.

The new car will be equipped with battery cells with 20 percent higher energy density than the EQS, he added. While this will still be a concept unveiling, Mercedes has made it clear that its technology will find its way into its consumer products. Already, Mercedes has shown the ability to turn its flagship S-Class into a purpose-built EV with a fundamentally different EQS.
