As the fashion world gears up for its biggest night ever, aka the Met Gala, many of us have been waiting to see how celebrities from around the world grace the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Met Gala red carpet veteran, American pop sensation Cher has been serving up the look before the fashion event was widely popularized by social media. Take, for example, this creation worn by the singer, inspired by the look featured in the 1985 release “Costumes of Royal India”. Cher sported a dazzling unitard and a classic ’80s lavender smoky eye for the event.

A trendy fashion icon, Rihanna has been spearheading her Met Gala fashion transformation over the years. One of the iconic looks presented by the founder and singer of Fenty Beauty was themed ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ in 2015. The artist wore a haute couture creation by Guo Pai that was a royal yellow, fur-trimmed cape embroidered with scrolls and scrolls and botanicals. Speaking to the press on the red carpet, Rihanna had mentioned, “It’s handmade by a Chinese woman and it took her two years to make. I found it online.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Our very own desi girl upped her fashion game with her 2019 Met Gala red carpet appearance. Keeping up with the year’s theme camp: Notes on Fashion, Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas walked the red carpet in a dramatic Dior outfit. Priyanka’s outfit featured a sheer bodice that featured gray, pink, red and yellow feathers with silver criss-cross detailing and a skirt and trailing cape. The actress went all out with her beauty look with voluminous curly hair, white eyeliner, red eye shadow and bold burgundy lips.

The Emmy Award-winning actress has been ramping up her red carpet looks in recent years. In 2018 she decided to take inspiration from Joan of Arc for her Met Gala red carpet look. The theme of the year was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, for which Zendaya wore a custom metallic Versace gown with an armored neck and shoulder piece, sparkling chainmail, an edgy belt and a modest train. Zendaya also wore a cropped wig, bringing back the famous bob.
