Meta said it removed over 22.54 million pieces of content across 13 policies for Facebook and over 12.03 million pieces of content across 12 policies for Instagram in India in December 2022.

Between December 1-31, Facebook received 764 reports through the Indian complaint mechanism, and the company said it provided tools to users to resolve their issues in 345 cases.

On Instagram, the company received 10,820 reports through the Indian complaint system.

Of these, we provided tools to users to resolve their issues in 2,461 cases.

Of the other 8,359 reports that required special review, META reviewed the content and took action on a total of 2,926 reports.

The remaining 5,433 reports were reviewed on Instagram, but may not have been auctioned.

Under the new IT Rules 2021, large digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users will have to publish monthly compliance reports.
