Sydney: Former Australian cricketer turned commentator Michael SlaterA report said a man facing multiple charges of assault has been sent to a rehab facility.
A 52-year-old man is accused of assaulting a 36-year-old man at Sydney’s North Beach Hospital on 18 July. He is also charged with attempted stalking or intimidation of one. Nicholas O’Neilly,
Court documents accessed by the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age show that “the accused attempted to intimidate the victim with intent to cause physical or mental harm.”
Slater, who had previously pleaded innocent, did not appear in Manly Local Court on Wednesday. His lawyer informed the court that he is in a rehabilitation center as the matter has been adjourned for a week.
Slater, a veteran of 74 Tests and 42 ODIs, was arrested in September this year for breaching bail and then sent for a mental health evaluation.
His ex-wife had also accused him of domestic violence.
Slater was reportedly sacked by Channel Seven as their commentator after he criticized the Australian government’s handling of COVID-19 in 2021.
