Microsoft Your Chromium-based . has started rolling out a new update for corner Web browser. The latest update brings many new features, changes and improvements to the browser. However, the most noticeable change is the new sidebar that offers several shortcuts to get started.
Edge Sidebar: What is it
Microsoft edge sidebar An additional shortcut is the ribbon interface that appears (by default) on the right side of the web browser. The new sidebar provides access to tools and shortcuts for several Microsoft services such as Outlook, Office, OneDrive, and more. These services in the sidebar usually open in the expanded window on the right that makes things like searching, viewing web pages. Some information while reading an article, and accessing email without making the ongoing work easier.
Edge Sidebar: What Are the Available Options
The Edge sidebar currently only includes apps and services from Microsoft. We couldn’t find a way to add third-party apps like Gmail instead of Outlook to the sidebar. As far as the options are concerned, there are OneDrive, Office, Outlook, Bing Search, Discover, Games, Clock, Calculator, Calendar, Dictionary, Translator, Unit Converter and Speed Test.

Well, the idea of adding a sidebar for added functionality isn’t new at all. Web browsers like Opera and Vivaldi There’s already a sidebar that gives access to a number of apps and services from different brands. For example, Opera has WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, bookmarkHistory and much more.
Edge Sidebar: How Practical Is It
The practicality of the sidebar depends on the user, some may like the idea while some may not like it. For example, the Edge sidebar can come in handy if you’re invested in Microsoft services or need quick access to the calendar, calculator, and other tools. However, if you’re not investing that much in Microsoft services by the month, it might seem like a gimmick. That being said, Microsoft should also be thinking about adding more external and internal services to the sidebar.
Note that, the sidebar can be turned off. So if you don’t want to use it, it can be turned off from the settings.
