Minister promises all support to IBM to expand activities in Kerala

Within eight months of IBM Labs starting its operations in Kochi, the company has made 750 new hires, said a statement from the public relations department, citing IBM senior vice president Dinesh Nirmal, who met Industries Minister P. Rajeev here. said in communication. The minister promised full support to the IBM official for expanding the company’s activities in Kerala.

The government’s communication also claimed that IBM expressed satisfaction over the atmosphere prevailing in the state. Added communication, the company has been able to recruit from campuses in the state to meet its requirements.

Several important projects are being implemented through IMB units in Kerala. This would pave the way for Kerala to turn into an important global hub for the company, Mr. Nirmal said. IBM is ready to provide skill training to students at the college level. The company plans to expand collaborations with Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala Technological University and Kerala Digital University.

IBM will open its development center in Kochi in September 2022 where work is underway on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence among other areas. Mr Rajeev said IBM’s presence would help Kerala attract more companies to the state.
