Ministry organizes pre-bid conference for potential bidders for ACC PLI scheme

New Delhi : The Pre-Bid Conference organized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) for the prospective bidders for the Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has received wide participation and interest from the bidders, with around 100 from around 20 companies. participants have participated. Both personally and virtually.

MHI had on October 22 issued a request for offer document inviting bidders for a total manufacturing capacity of 50 gigawatt hours (GWh) of ACC battery storage. 18,100 crores.

Presentations were made on terms and conditions, technical details of ACC manufacturing and various incentives and opportunities for promotion of ACC battery manufacturing in the country. The queries of the bidders were addressed in the pre-bid conference and were sent to them through e-mail. was asked to seek any further clarifications,” MHI said in a statement.

Online bidding will be done through a transparent, two-stage process under the Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) mechanism. The salient features of the selection process include meeting the eligibility criteria, transparent bidding process, complete flexibility in innovation for ACC battery manufacturing, customized payment structures, promotion of self-reliant India through domestic value addition and setting up of ACC manufacturing facilities.

ACCs are new generation advance storage technologies that can store electrical energy either in the form of electrochemical or chemical energy and convert it back into electrical energy when required. Consumer electronics, electric vehicles, advanced power grids, solar roof tops, etc. which are the major battery consumption sectors, are expected to achieve strong growth in sales volume in the coming years. Leading battery technologies are expected to control some of the world’s largest growth areas.

Although many companies have already started investing in battery packs, although the capacity of these features is very low compared to the global average, there is negligible investment in manufacturing as well as value addition of ACC in India. “All the demand of ACC is currently being met through imports in India. The National Program on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage will reduce the dependence on imports. This will support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative,” the department said.
