Surat: In a strange video that surfaced on Thursday, CCTV Cameras installed at the railway station on Wednesday caught a woman who miraculously accidentally escaped from the gap between a moving train and the platform at Surat railway station. The 34-year-old woman, identified as Pooja Agarwal, suffered a head injury and has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at around 11.50 am on Wednesday when the Hisar-Bandra Express left for Mumbai after stopping briefly at Platform 2 of Surat railway station. The woman had come down to buy food when the train started running after stopping for five minutes.
Seeing the train moving, the woman ran towards the train and climbed up the stairs of her coach when her foot slipped and she fell on the platform. The video clearly shows how she then slipped into the gap between the moving train and the platform, causing panic among the spectators.
“My husband and daughter were nearby when I was away. When the train stopped, I, along with a few others on the platform, pulled it out,” said Manju JainiA social worker and eyewitness to the hair-raising incident.
Someone pulled the chain in the train and Railway Protection Force ,RPF) also swung into action.
“The terrified woman suffered minor injuries but was so shocked that she immediately boarded the train after being rescued. The police had to chase him to see if he was injured and they later brought him down and even took him to the hospital,” said Jain.
“The woman was admitted to the hospital after she was rescued. His condition was stable when taken to the hospital,” said an RPF official.
