MNNIT Allahabad To Host 20th Convocation On August 18 – News18

59 foreign students will receive medals.

A total of 1670 students will be awarded degrees in the convocation.

The 20th convocation ceremony of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, Prayagraj, is scheduled for Sunday, August 18, at 4 PM in the institute’s auditorium. During the ceremony, students from various engineering courses will be awarded degrees and medals. The event will be graced by Dr. NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder and honorary chairman of Infosys, who will serve as the chief guest and address the graduating students. Dr. Vivek Lall, Chairman of the Board of Governors, will preside over the convocation, which will be held online. Other distinguished guests include Professor Sangita Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad Central University, and Professor Anand K. Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi.

While talking to the media, MNNIT director Professor Rama Shanker Verma said that a total of 1670 students will be awarded degrees in the convocation. It will include 985 B.Tech, 414 M.Tech, 104 MCA, 29 MBA, 27 MSc and 111 research scholars. These degrees will be given to students from all over the country. The list of the students getting degrees in the convocation includes 334 female students. Gold medals will also be awarded to the meritorious students of the institute in the convocation ceremony. So far more than 1100 students have registered to obtain the degree by appearing in person, as per the MNNIT director.

During the convocation ceremony, a total of 59 foreign students will be awarded medals. Among them are 52 men and 7 women who enrolled at the institute through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) program. Additionally, 15 students, including 14 men and 1 woman, who were admitted through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), will also receive their degrees.

The list of prizes also includes 13 gold medals for the students with outstanding performance. The winner of these medals will be decided by the faculty members, alumni, and various industries. Om Vijay Gupta, a student of the Electronic and Communication course, will be given the institute’s gold medal as the best student among all B.Tech final-year students of batch 2023. He will be given a total of four gold medals.

In the year-wise medal category, gold medals will be given to Rishabh Gupta, a student of Civil Engineering for the third year, Vaibhav Kansal, a student of Computer Science and Engineering for the second year and Aviral Mishra, Electrical Engineering for the first year.
