Mobile internet back in Kashmir Valley today except in Srinagar, Budgam

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said on Monday that mobile internet services will be restored in most parts of the Kashmir Valley today. However, restrictions on mobile data connectivity will continue in Srinagar and Budgam.

Voice calling and internet services were banned after the death of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. After being suspended for two days, voice calling and fixed line internet services were restored across all operators on Friday night, but mobile internet services remained restricted.

Restrictions were eased in the Valley yesterday, five days after Geelani’s death, but security forces remained deployed in the area. There were no restrictions on the movement of people, but barricades and check-points could still be seen along the roads, especially those leading to the Hurriyat leader’s residence in Hyderpora.
