Modi in Karnataka Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Karnataka will inaugurate the Shivamogga airport today on the birthday of Lingayat Bahubali and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa, for whom the airport has been a dream project.
The lotus shaped airport named after Kuvempu has been developed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore. The passenger terminal building at the airport can handle 300 passengers per hour.
A government statement said the airport would improve connectivity and accessibility to Shivamogga and other neighboring areas in the Malnad region.
A series of other projects including smart city projects, railway and road projects, and rural water connectivity projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission will be launched in Shivamogga and Belagavi districts during Modi’s one-day visit to the poll-bound Karnataka. ,
PM Modi will also flag off a newly renovated railway station. The stage has also been set for PM Modi’s nine kilometer road show. He is also expected to address a public meeting.
Assembly elections are to be held in Karnataka before May 2023.
