UK-based Cooperb Motorcycles has modified a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 to see what a production Himalayan 650 could look like. Cooperb Motorcycles has uploaded a video of the custom build project, which the company calls Interlayn. The custom build is still a work in progress, and several other changes will be made by Wellingborough-based Custom Bike Shop in the UK. The manufacturer of the bike has revealed in the video that the “Interlayne” debuted as a stock Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and is set to undergo a few more modifications before being completed as a proper adventure tourer.

The motorcycle has already undergone several modifications which completely changed the look of the stock Interceptor 650. Up front, a signature windscreen, plastic front fenders and ‘beak’ have been attached to the Himalayan, as is the single round headlight. The front suspension has been revised and now has fork gaiters and it seems to offer more travel. The wheels are fitted with dual purpose tires and the rims have been replaced with gold finished wire spoke wheels.

The handlebars have been changed and hand guards have been added, but the twin pod instrument console has been retained.

The handlebars have also been changed, but the twin-pod instrument console of the Interceptor 650 has been retained. The fuel tank also appears to have been derived from the Himalaya, with a tank guard that can double as a luggage carrier, or mount additional jerry compartments for fuel. One of the most noticeable changes is the two-way exhaust system. The dual-cradle chassis of the Interceptor 650 has been retained. The modified Interceptor 650 is a one-time build only, and there is no indication that Royal Enfield is actually working on the ‘official’ 650cc version of the Himalayan.

The dual-cradle chassis of the stock RE Interceptor 650 has also been retained.

The company is gearing up to launch the third model in the 650 Twins platform with the new 650 cc cruiser Super Meteor. As far as the adventure segment is concerned, the next adventure bike is expected to be a road-oriented and more affordable model of the current Royal Enfield Himalayan, which could be called the Royal Enfield Scream. There is also reportedly an all-new Himalayan, with a slightly larger 450cc engine.
