Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah says he is fully focused on the club’s bid for silverware amid talk of a potential contract deadlock. Salah is yet to sign an extension to his current Liverpool deal, which expires at the end of the 2022-23 season. Reports suggest that the 29-year-old Egypt star’s salary demands are the biggest hurdle. There have been claims that Salah wants to draw parity with some of the Premier League’s top earners. Liverpool’s habit of avoiding big contracts to players over the age of 30 has fueled fears that Salah would leave Anfield.

His value to Liverpool is clear after starting the season with nine goals in nine matches.

For now, Salah is focused on securing Jurgen Klopp’s side with Premier League leaders Chelsea after an unbeaten start to the season.

“As long as the team keeps winning, I am happy,” Salah told Liverpool’s website on Thursday.

“I’m always trying to help, to score goals and help the team win games, that’s the most important thing.

“We always have to give our best to win something and I think we have the quality for that.

“We have a top team, so we have to push ourselves to the limit and try to win something. I’m sure everyone thinks the same way.

“That’s what we need, just to keep in our heads that we finish the season by winning something.”
