Monsoon update: UP government to close schools for classes 1-12 in Noida, others on October 10

With heavy rains lashing the northern parts of the country, the Uttar Pradesh government on October 9 announced the closure of schools for all children up to class XII.

As per the government order, cities including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Agra will close schools for all children up to class XII, as a heavy rain warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department on October 10.

Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department issued a warning that heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan during the next 2 days.

In its forecast, the IMD had said, “Isolated/scattered heavy falls and thunderstorms/lightning over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh on 09th and 10th and fairly widespread/very widespread over East Rajasthan on 09th. Widespread light/moderate rainfall likely in October, 2022.”

Also, the India Meteorological Department had predicted on October 8 that there is a possibility of thundershowers with heavy rains during October 8-10 over northern and central India.
