‘Moonshot’ movie review: Cole Sprouse stars in good-natured, goofy space ride

Despite not being particularly original, with likeable leads and a sci-fi twist that isn’t time travel, the rom-com is a great way to pass the time.

Just When You Thought Romcoms Are A Dying Breed Gets Delightful moonshot, And it’s such a relief to see Cole Sprouse as a jolly doofus after six seasons and 103 episodes of purple prose and rage, courtesy of Jughead. riverdale,

Sprouse plays Walt, an assistant barista on a college campus. He dreams of going to Mars but doesn’t have the requisite gazillion dollars to buy a ticket. Even after eccentric billionaire Leon Covey (Zach Braff) starts the Covey Student Mars program, his applications are rejected 37 times because he doesn’t have the necessary skills or information.

In this tragic life, which includes dealing with the gullible robot boss, Gary (Peter Woodward), comes Ginny (Emily Rudd), who just needs that little push to move to Mars. At the same party where Walt meets Ginny, he also meets Sophie (Lana Condor). Sophie’s boyfriend, Calvin (Mason Gooding), is on Mars, working on a busy project.

A few weeks later, Walt meets a tearful Sophie at the coffee shop. Sophie is upset that Calvin will be on Mars much longer, which goes against the two’s “planned” plans for the future. Sophie has money to buy a ticket to Mars, but she is afraid of flying.

Walt has a clever plan and convinces Sophie to buy a ticket and take her to the spaceship. Once on board, it’s clear that Walt’s stowaway plan isn’t working and the two must pretend to be a couple to avoid discovery.

there is nothing surprisingly different in this moonshot That we haven’t seen in a million other romcoms, but it’s all so good you can’t help but smile along. Condor seems to be an extension of his Lara Jean character To all the boys.., And the little jig she does to calm her anxiety before take-off is fascinating. Michelle Buteau as Captain Tartar is a bag of jokes.

While not particularly original, with likable leads and a sci-fi twist that isn’t time travel, backed up by acceptable film logic, moonshot A pleasant way to spend time.
