More than ₹ 500 crore spent on advertisements, travel in Bengal in 2021, elections to 4 other states

BJP got the highest amount 611.692 cr and spent 252 crore during the assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry, said a report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch. “Out of the total, the party spent 85.26 crore on publicity including media advertisement, and 61.73 crore on travel expenses of star campaigners and other leaders.”

Also quoted, Congress received the second largest amount 193.77 crore and spent 85.625 crores, including 31,451 crore on promotion and 20.40 For traveling expenses.

DMK, which got the third highest amount 134 crore, made a total expenditure of 114.14 crore, with party expenses 52.144 cr on promotion and 2.414 crores for the travel expenses of its star campaigners and other leaders.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) received funds of total 79.244 Cr, TMC 56.328 crore, AIADMK 14.46 crore and CPI 8.05 crore during the election. “While the CPI(M) spent 32.74 Cr, Expenditure 21.509 crore for publicity and 1.173 crore on travel expenses.”

TMC Expenses 154.282 crore, expenditure of 27.009 crores on promotion and 33.02 towards travel expenses, as reported.

The total expenditure of AIADMK during the elections was 57.33 crore, and out of that, 56.756 crores went for publicity.

CPI spent 5.68 crores spent in elections 3.506 crores on publicity, as per the report.
