Jaipur: In seven days, Rajasthan Rajasthan More than 10,000 Covid-19 cases have been reported.
Whereas, earlier, it took seven months for the state to add 10,000 infections, from June to December 2021, while the last 10,000 have been reported in the first seven days of January. On Friday, the state recorded 3,300 cases, taking the total tally to 9,66,409.
Two people also died, taking the death toll to 8,969. Active cases also crossed the 10,000 mark for the first time since June 10. Jaipur recorded 1,527 cases in the last 24 hours, taking its active cases to 5,776.
In the state, 10,182 persons have tested positive in seven days. On the night of December 31, there were 963 active cases in the state, but the number of active cases rose to 10,287 in the next seven days.
Five people, including two on Friday, died in the state in the last seven days. One death occurred in Jaipur and one in Karauli. “The woman who died was 89 years old and was in Jaipur for the last three months. He was having trouble breathing. He was admitted to a private hospital in Jaipur. Her rapid antigen test showed her negative for the virus on January 2. But testing of her sample on RT-PCR revealed that she was infected on January 4. He died late Thursday night. He was vaccinated with both the doses,” said Dr Dinesh Chand Meena, Chief Medical Health Officer, Karauli.
Apart from this, a 74-year-old man also died in Jaipur. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. He had coronary heart disease. He tested positive on January 3 and died on Friday afternoon. He was fully vaccinated with both the doses,” said Dr Narottam Sharma, Chief Medical Health Officer, Jaipur-I.
Jaipur is worst affected by the ongoing spurt in Covid cases, reporting 42.6% infections in 24 hours. The city recorded 1,527 cases from 90 zones. The addresses of 110 people have not been found.
The matter has also been reported from the police department. Expressing concern over the rising number of infections in the police department, Director General of Police ML Lather told TOI, “We have asked them to go for self-isolation and follow the guidelines. If any of our men need hospitalisation, we will facilitate him.”
