More than 120 crore Kovid vaccine doses administered in India so far: Union Health Ministry

New Delhi The Union Health Ministry on Thursday informed that the total dose of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the country has crossed the 120 crore mark.

The nationwide immunization drive was launched on 16 January with the first phase vaccinating health workers (HCWs). The vaccination of Frontline Workers (FLWs) began on February 2.

More than 74 lakh (74,59,819) doses of vaccine have been given till 7 pm. The daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the compilation of the final report for the day by late night, the ministry said.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 for people aged 60 years and above and 45 years and above with specified comorbid conditions.

The country began vaccination for all people over the age of 45 from 1 April. The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated from May 1.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in a tweet said: “With over 120 crore #COVID19 vaccine doses so far, PM @NarendraModi ji’s #HarGharDastak campaign is further strengthening India’s fight against the pandemic.”
