MPs want better infrastructure, toilets and parking space at railway stations

The meeting was attended by seven MPs – Dayanidhi Maran, DM Kathir Anand, Dr. Kanimozhi NVN Somu, Kalanithi Veeraswamy, D. Ravi Kumar, MK Vishnu Prasad and R.K. Girirajan attended.

RN Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway highlighted the station redevelopment work in progress and the passenger amenities being upgraded. He sought the views of the members regarding train facilities and other passenger amenities.

Listing out a list of demands, Dr. Kanimozhi wanted toilets in all long distance trains to be cleaned regularly and sought an update on the progress of work on the fourth line between Chennai Beach and Egmore railway stations. He pointed out the need to improve passenger amenities at Tambaram Railway Terminal.

The MPs also demanded to provide a public convenience at all railway stations. They wanted that the parking space in the suburban railway stations should be increased as most of the suburban railway stations like Tirusulam, Guindy and St. Thomas Mount did not have enough parking space.

The meeting was attended by Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Ganesh and other senior railway officials.
