According to a forest official, the tiger was expected to cross the Theppakadu-Masinagudi road on Thursday night after the tiger’s movements were caught in a camera trap located inside. Masinagudi and the Singara forest ranges in the MTR buffer zone. Operation teams consisting of 30 personnel were deputed to monitor the movement of the tiger in that area.
A forest official said, “The tiger showed signs of its presence in the area late in the night, but did not emerge.”
On Friday morning, when the tiger crossed the Masinagudi road, the operation teams of forest veterinarians fired at least four darts. One of them hit. However, the tiger escaped and went into the bushes. It took the teams about five hours to locate the tiger. The big cat was calmed down again and captured at around 2 am.
