Mumbai monsoon: Residents took to Twitter to share the joy of rain

People got relief from the ongoing heat carnival due to the rain in the city of dreams. Two days after the Meteorological Department sounded an alert, Mumbai received moderate rains, thanks to the southwest monsoon reaching the city’s coasts.

Incessant rains brought the mercury below 30 degrees Celsius and laid-back Mumbaikars displayed their celebration on social media. Just as the streets of Mumbai rained heavily, the Twitter space was also flooded with visuals of the city during a massive downpour.

It has been raining in Mumbai for the last two days and the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for today. Here are some posts that Mumbaikars share to welcome the rains in their home city.

One user wrote, ‘Rain in Mumbai, clearly this is my favorite season.

Another user shared his perfect rainy day which includes tea, a book and of course mesmerizing scenes. Check it out.

“It’s a very special feeling to buy your first umbrella for Mumbai rains!” Wrote this user.

This user posted some scary scenes with dark clouds all over Mumbai. Although scary, it still deserves a second look, right?

While many celebrated the arrival of rain in Mumbai, some visionary users shared the days when the soothing rain would turn into heavy hail.

“Mumbaikar after few hours of incessant rain,” wrote this user, thanking the civic body in the city for at least adequate arrangements to manage the rains.

Another user jumped with emotion and wrote, “Mumbai rain is like arranged marriages, everyone celebrates on the first day, and then…”

IMD has also predicted rain in other parts of Maharashtra state during this week.
