Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly VD Satheesan has condemned the negligence of the police. murder of young doctor at the Kottarakkara Government Taluk Hospital in Kollam district on Wednesday.

Addressing the media in Sultan Bathery, Mr Satheesan criticized the police for failing to take adequate precautions while taking a detainee to the hospital. He insisted that this oversight led to the untimely death of Dr. Vandana Das, the only child of her parents.

Mr. Satheesan also urged for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, stressing on the importance of holding those responsible for this heart-wrenching tragedy to justice.

Strongly criticizing Health Minister Veena George for her remark that the doctor was inexperienced and scared, Mr. Satheesan remarked that it was fortunate that the minister had not yet demanded that health workers practice karate and martial arts for self-defense. Learn martial arts like Kalari.

He underlined the existence of several laws and enactments, including the Medical Establishment Act, designed to protect the jobs of doctors and healthcare workers.

Nevertheless, the state government’s abject failure to create a safe environment in health institutions remained an issue, Mr. Satheesan said, stressing that such difficulties should be conspicuously absent in these establishments.

Besides this, he also regretted the continued neglect of health workers in effectively addressing their grievances.

In a sarcastic remark, Mr Satheesan also proposed that Ms George’s name be immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the minister responsible for issuing the most inquiry orders during her tenure.

Mr Satheesan said the murder of the young doctor and the boat tragedy were the result of perceived apathy on the part of the government.
