Murder victim’s stolen necklace recovered

City police, which arrested a Tamil Nadu native for the murder of a nursery worker in Ambalamukku, on Saturday recovered her stolen necklace from Kanyakumari.

As part of the evidence collection, accused Rajendran was taken to various places including Kanyakumari and Kavalkinaru in Tirunelveli from where he was apprehended. Official sources said around four sovereign weight necklaces were recovered from a financial institution in Anjugramam. He had allegedly mortgaged the gold he had stolen from the victim Vinita for around ₹90,000.

7 days police custody

The accused was identified by three witnesses, including an autorickshaw driver and a scooter owner, who allegedly gave him a lift after committing the crime. The investigation team, which produced Rajendran in a local court, remanded him for seven days.
