Murmu inaugurates several projects related to education in Mizoram

Addressing the 17th Convocation of Mizoram University, the President said that Mizoram University is a premier university in the North East region providing quality education. “The University has made serious efforts to promote academics which has resulted in remarkable progress in the fields of Science, Arts, Commerce, Engineering and Medical Sciences. It has attained the status of ‘Institution of Eminence’ and has taken some pioneering initiatives ”

He said that the university has three incubators to provide innovative and practical training to the students. “The University has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various universities and organizations at national and international level for academic and technical cooperation.”

The President said that this has set a new template for other higher education institutions to explore avenues of collaboration with national and international organizations and to create new benchmarks of excellence in academic and technical fields.

“The convocation is an important occasion to remember and recognize the efforts of his family members who have supported him throughout his journey. The fact that girls comprise more than 50 per cent of the graduate students in the 2021-22 academic session is commendable, but it should grow at a higher rate. We must also ensure that women’s participation in education translates into increased participation in the workforce as well,” President Murmu said.

He further said that the inauguration of two ST Girls Hostels at Mizoram University and Sairang is a step towards empowerment of girl students by providing them access to quality education and other facilities. “The inauguration of the permanent campus of IIMC Aizawl will give a boost to media and mass communication studies across the Northeast.”
