Musk told Tesla employees he must approve all hiring: report

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk has said the company can’t take on any new jobs until he personally approves them, including from contractors, a report cited an email to employees on Monday.

According to the report, Musk asked executives to send him a list of hiring requests on a weekly basis, as well as asking them to “think carefully” before submitting such requests.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Musk last week named former NBCUniversal advertising chief Linda Yacarino as Twitter’s new CEO. He said Friday that hiring Yacarino would allow him more time to run Tesla.

The billionaire is expected to address Tesla shareholders on Tuesday at the automaker’s annual meeting at its headquarters in Austin, Texas.
