MYMUL President PM Prasanna told reporters in Mysore on Friday that his vigilance team, which would include chemists and other food experts, would visit various Nandini milk parlors and agencies to check the purity and genuineness of the products sold under the brand name. will visit.

While such a vigilance squad is to be set up by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the apex body of dairy cooperatives in the state, MYMUL will deploy the vigilance team in the areas under its purview.

The squad members will also seize the products at random and check them in the laboratory.

Shri Prasanna said that the representatives of MYMUL met the Superintendent of Police of Mysore district R. Chetan was met by senior officials to conduct a detailed probe into the racket, which was revealed on Thursday after activists stormed a godown at Hosahundi on the outskirts of Mysore.

An FIR has been registered against the four persons, he said, hoping that the police probe would not only help bring out all the culprits involved in the crime, but also its marketing network.

Mr Prasanna said that the counterfeit packaging material recovered from the godown on Thursday had copied all the contents of Nandini Packaging Material including the taxation number.

It is to be noted that the food safety authorities had confiscated a huge quantity of palm oil, vegetable cooking oil, coloring and flavoring agent, packaging material in the name of Nandini, which is the brand name of dairy products of KMF, from the godown. on Thursday.

MYMUL has claimed in a statement that along with 5 to 6 tonnes of adulterated ghee, about 3 to 4 tonnes of pure ghee has also been recovered.

PM Prasad, Mysore’s designated officer for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), said samples of the seized material would be sent to laboratories for testing.

MYMUL officials also said that their directors and officials reached the godown after being alerted by members of a local human rights organisation, which had received information about the racket.
