A 44-year-old naval officer from Odisha was found dead at the Naval Hospital here in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Lieutenant Commander Santosh Kumar Patro. He was found hanging from a noose in the bathroom of the hospital where he was undergoing treatment, police said. An autopsy was conducted on Monday and a case of unnatural death has been registered at the Harbor Police Station, police said.
A communication from the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) stated that a Statutory Board of Inquiry is being ordered by the Southern Naval Command Headquarters.
