Navjot Singh Sidhu withdraws his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress President

Navjot Singh Sidhu On Friday, he said that he has withdrawn his resignation from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief.

Sidhu said, “I have withdrawn my resignation (as Punjab Congress chief) and I categorically say that the day a new Advocate General will be appointed and a new panel will come, I will take charge of my office. There was no personal arrogance,” Sidhu said. said.

Sidhu had stepped down on September 28, soon after the portfolios were allotted to the members of the new state cabinet led by Charanjit Singh Channi.

In a letter to party interim president Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu had said, “The degradation of a man’s character comes from a compromise corner, I can never compromise on the future of Punjab and the agenda of Punjab’s welfare.”

“Therefore, I resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress,” he wrote.

However, on October 15, AICC state in-charge Harish Rawat had said that Sidhu would continue to be the Punjab Congress president.

“He (Sidhu) shared his concerns with Rahul Gandhi. We have told them that their concerns will be taken care of here. He assured Rahul Gandhi that he has withdrawn his resignation and he will resume his duties as PCC president,” Rawat said.

Sidhu had also clarified that all his concerns have been addressed.

“I shared all my concerns with Rahul Gandhi. Everything has been sorted out,” Sidhu said after meeting the Congress scion.

He took over as the state party chief on July 23 amid leadership clashes with Amarinder Singh, who stepped down as CM in September, accusing the party high command of humiliating him.

Singh had also recently tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress, which has been accepted by Sonia Gandhi as well. The former Chief Minister has started a new party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’.
