Sharadiya Navratri 2022: The nine-day long auspicious festival of Sharad Navratri is celebrated all over the country with much pomp and grandeur. During this, devotees worship nine incarnations of Goddess Durga for nine days. The ninth day, i.e. Mahanavami, is dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga. It is believed that Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura on this day, and hence she is also known as Mahishasura Mardini.

Mahanavami date and auspicious time
According to the Drik Panchang, the auspicious time of Mahanavami will start at 04:37 pm on 3rd October and will end at 02:20 pm on 4th October. Brahma Muhurta will start at 04:38 am and end at 05:27 am. Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:46 am to 12:33 pm while Vijay Muhurta will be from 02:08 pm to 02:55 pm.

Mahanavami is one of the most important days during Durga Puja. The rituals of worship begin with Mahasnan and Shodashopachara Puja and end with Kanya Pujan. People invite young girls to worship, as well as feed them. They also give them gifts and seek their blessings.

Importance
Goddess Siddhidatri is the source of all siddhis and holds all the eight Ashtasiddhis. Worshiping the goddess stimulates the Sahasrara Chakra, also known as the Crown Chakra of the body. According to Hindu inscriptions, she blesses her devotees with good fortune and grants them salvation.

On this day, devotees offer coconut, kheer and panchamrit to Goddess Siddhidatri. While performing Kanya Puja, devotees offer Puri, Halwa and black gram to the Goddess.
