Navratri 2022: Make fast-friendly potato pakoras in 20 minutes for evening tea

Every other day we crave for pakodas with evening tea. There are so many recipes for dumplings that we can cook a different one every day for weeks at a time. Since pakora is our all-time snack, we don’t feel any different during Navratri. All of us who follow a sattvik diet during the nine-day festival have to eat fruity food. But if you have the same urge to bite into the crunchy fried dumplings, don’t try to kill it; Make this delicious fasting-friendly Aloo Pakora to round out your evenings.

The aloo pakoras we are talking about make a batter of gram flour made from buckwheat flour for fasting; and makes way for common salt rock salt, Like you make your regular aloo pakoras, cut the potatoes into thin discs, coat them with the buckwheat flour batter, mix with water and add rock salt and chili powder. Then all that is left to do is deep fry the coated potato slices in hot ghee. Follow this recipe, and even on a sattvic diet, treat yourself to a delicious breakfast.

You can also add other spices to the kuttu batter which you are allowed to eat on your own during the festival. Fry the pakoras on medium flame only, so that the layer of buckwheat does not get torn and comes out. These pakodas taste best when fried in ghee, but feel free to use oil of your choice.

You can also make potatoes in large quantities and make another batter of gram flour instead of buckwheat, which can be made for those family members who are not fasting or following a sattvik diet. The idea is to enjoy a hearty evening session with the whole family.
