India’s javelin player and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been in the news since his historic win at the Games this year. On Saturday, the young man took to his Instagram handle to share how he manages to fulfill his own long-held dream of seeing his parents – Satish Kumar and Saroj Devi on their maiden flight. Chopra hails from Panipat in Haryana and belongs to a simple farmer family there.
Chopra put out a heartfelt post for her parents on Instagram and wrote, “A small dream of mine came true today as I was able to take my parents on their first flight.”
He also shared the same in Hindi and also shared photos of all three near an aircraft. Chopra also thanked everyone in her life for their well wishes and blessings.
Born in a small village called Khandara in a farming family, Neeraj has two sisters and the 23-year-old’s inspirational journey to win gold from there has been the first dream item for Bhala. Neeraj’s Insta post also had 2 more pictures of the trio inside the craft.
As a teenager, Chopra was enrolled at the local gymnasium in Madlauda after being teased for being overweight by local children. While the young boy shed the extra kilos, he also started participating in sporting events and once at the Shivaji Stadium in Panipat, he saw some javelin throwers and began to develop an interest himself.
After returning from the Olympics, Neeraj unfortunately developed fever, for which he was also hospitalized for a few days. Later, possibly on the advice of doctors, the 24-year-old decided to take some time off from her busy schedule and recover from all travel. He will be preparing for the 2022 World Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games after his break.
