NEET 2022 candidates sought to conduct Special Stray Vacancy round after MCC

Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will conduct a stray vacancy counseling round for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2021, It will be conducted online to fill the vacant seats under All India Quota. MCC has already conducted online disengagement round, however, 323 MBBS seats are still vacant.

Candidates who have already registered and allotted any seat are eligible for this round. However, candidates have to fill a new option for the particular stray vacancy round. They will have to select the seats at the time of choice filling on the MCC website mcc.nic.in.

Those who have already registered will have to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs 50,000 to participate in the special vagabond vacancy round. “Candidates who do not appear in the seats allotted to them in the particular stray vacancy round, their refundable security deposit will be forfeited,” the official notice by the MCC said.

Amidst the counseling process, the students who are yet to get the seat in the medical colleges have demanded the postponement of the exam. According to him, since the counseling process for NEET 2021 is not over yet, those who do not qualify will need more time to prepare for the exam. The students had to take to the social media platform, Twitter, demanding an adjournment. With the hashtags #postponeneetug2022, and #ReschduleNEETUG2022, they demanded the postponement of the exam from the currently scheduled July 17 date to August or September.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has already started the registration process for NEET 2022 and the last date to apply is May 6. This year, NTA has done away with the upper age limit for medical admission. Till last year it was 25 years for general candidates and 30 years for reserved candidates. It has now been removed. The agency has also extended the duration of NEET by 20 minutes. Now, students will get 3 hours 20 minutes or 200 minutes to solve the exam. The number of questions will be 180.
