NEET PG counseling 2021 will start from next week

The health ministry is likely to start the process in the coming week, after the Supreme Court has given its nod to start the counseling process. Ministry sources have told news agency ANI that the counseling process for postgraduate admissions will start in the coming week. This will be the first time that 10 per cent seats will be reserved for EWS and 27 per cent for OBC candidates in NEET PG counseling.

NEET counseling is conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). To start counselling, candidates need to register at mcc.nic.in. MCC had earlier said that it would conduct four sessions to fill seats in postgraduate courses. Under NEET PG counselling, there are 50 per cent seats in medical and dental courses in states, 100 per cent seats in central universities including BHU, AIIMS, JIPMER, AMU, Faculty of Dentistry and 85 per cent seats in DU/IP state quota. 15 percent of the IP quota seats of the university and ESIC will be filled.

The Supreme Court in its order said that NEET PG counseling should start in “national interest”. The court, however, did not leave the issue of setting limits for availing the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota. Same. Will be taken again in March.

While there is a section of candidates who are against the new reservation, the government had earlier estimated that the policy would benefit 1500 OBC students in MBBS and 2500 OBC students in post-graduation and around 550 EWS students in MBBS and around 1000 EWS students in post-graduation . , every year.

Students who qualify the exam after clearing NEET (both UG and PG) have to appear for counselling. Counseling takes place at both the central and state level. 50% PG and 15% of all UG seats come under Central Quota or All India Quota. The new reservation will be added in the AIQ segment.
