NEET PG counseling decision today, MCC may release schedule at mcc.nic.in

The Supreme Court will announce the final verdict on the newly introduced EWS and OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ). While the government has suggested that a cap of Rs 8 lakh should be kept for availing the EWS quota, doctors’ body FORDA claims that it will be further postponed as there are fresh reservations in the already delayed process.

While SC will take a final call on reservation, it is likely that the counseling process will start from today. Reserving its decision, the SC said on January 5, “NEET PG counseling should start in the national interest.” This came as a big relief to the doctors, who are anticipating that the counseling session will start immediately. Soon after the decision, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will start the counseling process.

A section of NEET PG candidates had challenged the implementation of EWS and OBC reservation in AIQ. Under the All India Quota, 50 per cent seats are spread in postgraduate courses and 15 per cent in undergraduate courses and the central government had introduced 10 per cent reservation for EWS and 27 per cent for OBCs under AIQ. The petitioners had also challenged keeping Rs 8 lakh as income limit for availing EWS quota.
