NEET-PG: SC cancels AIQ mop-up round counseling over discrepancies in 146 seats

The Supreme Court on Thursday canceled the All India Quota mop-up round counseling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021-22 to “resolve discrepancies” in the 146 new seats that candidates have were not available for Participated in rounds one and two of the procedure.

The Supreme Court bench also directed the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) to invite options from students within 24 hours of issuance of the new notification and complete the process within 72 hours of the cut-off time for options.

The bench clarified that all directions have been issued in exercise of its jurisdiction under Article 142 of the Constitution.

The SC was hearing various petitions filed by doctors to participate in the mop-up round of NEET-PG 2021-22 counselling.

A petition has challenged the March 16 advisory of the Medical Counseling Committee barring participation in the mop-up round counseling for NEET PG admissions.

On Wednesday, the SC had directed the government to maintain status quo till Thursday in the mop-up round of NEET-PG 2021-22 counseling and asked the DGHS to reconsider the issues, including the decision to add 146 new seats.
