A small Nepalese private airline plane carrying 22 people, including four Indians, went missing in the Himalayan country’s mountainous region after taking off from the tourist town of Pokhara on Sunday morning, officials said.

According to a Tara Air spokesperson, Tara Air’s Twin Otter 9N-AET aircraft, which took off from Pokhara at 10:15 am, lost contact with the tower 15 minutes after takeoff.

Apart from the three-member Nepalese crew, there are four Indian nationals, two Germans and 13 Nepalese passengers, airlines spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula said.

The three-man crew of the aircraft was led by Captain Prabhakar Prasad Ghimire. The plane was to land at Jomsom Airport in the Western Hills region at 10:15 am

Aviation sources said the aircraft lost contact with the tower from the sky over Ghorepani on the Pokhara-Jomsam air route.
