The government rushed to give vaccination records on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday today, a senior health official said, adding that the country had over 42,000 immunizations in a minute. Vaccinations crossed one crore in the afternoon – the fourth time in less than a month – a major milestone by the end of the day.

“On PM @narendramodi ji’s birthday, by 1:30 pm, the country has crossed the 1 crore vaccine mark, the fastest ever, and we are moving ahead. I believe that today We all a Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya created a new record of vaccination and gifted it to the Prime Minister.

Health ministry sources predicted 2.5 crore vaccinations by evening.

The government added a ticker to track COVID shots across the country.

RS Sharma, head of the National Health Authority, tweeted, “Celebrating the tireless efforts of India’s vaccinators against COVID-19, we have added a ticker to show real-time vaccination. We currently have 42,000 Looking at more immunizations/minute or 700/sec.” Tracker sharing.

“Our top priority is to provide 100% first dose of vaccine in the poll-bound states,” government sources said, citing state elections due next year.

The vaccination campaign is the key to the BJP’s three-week celebration on the Prime Minister’s 71st birthday.

To achieve its target, the BJP had roped in health volunteers “to ensure that as many people as possible get their COVID-19 vaccines during the day”.

In recent times, India has reported more than one crore COVID shots in a day, more than once.

Senior BJP leaders say the party wants to see the day as “recorded in history” which gave a record number of Covid vaccines.

By noon, more than 94,00,000 vaccinations had been received. PM Modi’s home state Gujarat has crossed five lakh doses as compared to the daily dosage in the last seven days.

Till noon, Bihar had given Covid shots to 7.3 lakh people, which was three times the average of the previous three days. Madhya Pradesh was on over 5 lakh doses – 75 per cent of the average of the previous two days.
