New CCTV footage shows the Maruti Baleno car taking a U-turn on a road in Ladpur village of Kanjhawala Road in Delhi, where eyewitness Deepak Dahiya runs a confectionery.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the incident “shameful” and said he hoped the culprits would be punished in the harshest possible way.

He tweeted in Hindi, “What happened to our sister in Kanjhawala is very shameful. I hope the culprits are punished severely.”

Mr Dahiya had said that the vehicle had taken a U-turn after hitting the scooty. In the footage recorded at 3.34 am, the vehicle can be seen coming back towards Tosi village, where the body was found. The body can be clearly seen under the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses had told that the accused kept dragging the dead body of the girl trapped in their vehicle for 18 to 20 kilometers and it lasted for about one and a half hours.

“It was 3:20 in the morning…I was standing outside the shop when I heard a loud noise from a vehicle about 100 meters away. At first I thought it was a tire burst. As the car moved on, I saw a dead body. Saw being dragged. I immediately informed the police,” Mr Dahiya told news agency ANI.

Mr. Dahiya had said that the accused kept driving repeatedly on the same road of about four to five kilometers by taking U-turns.

“I tried to stop them several times, but they did not stop the vehicle. For about one-and-a-half hours, they carried the girl’s body for about 20 km,” he said.

He followed the car on his motorcycle and was in touch with the police. He told that after about one and a half hour the body fell from the car near Jyoti village on Kanjhawala road, after which the accused fled.

“It cannot be just an accident,” insisted Mr. Dahiya.

Police have said that the woman died after being hit by a scooty car and her body got trapped under the vehicle and was dragged for a long distance. The arrested accused have claimed that the windows of the car were rolled up and loud music was playing inside the car, so they did not notice it and when they came to know what had happened, they fled the spot.

The suspect car was traced and the five men were apprehended from their homes.
