New Citroen C3 launched today: Everything you need to know

New Citroen C3 Will be launched in India today, prices for the French carmaker’s second launch in our market will be announced shortly. While the pre-bookings for the Citroen C3 started from July 1, we expect the Citroen hatchback to be priced at Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Citroen C3 is the second product for the carmaker in India after the Citroen C5 AirCross, which takes on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger and even the Nissan Magnite in an SUV-inspired B-segment hatchback. We expect the naturally aspirated Citroen C3 to cost around Rs. 4.5 lakhs, while the turbo option could be priced from Rs. 5.75 lakh

The new Citroen C3 will come with a choice of two 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engines. The first will be a naturally aspirated motor that will offer a 5-speed manual gearbox making around 81 bhp. The other is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is tuned to develop 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The turbo petrol version can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 10 seconds. As for fuel efficiency, the 1.2-litre NA motor delivers 19.8 kmpl, while the turbo petrol option delivers 19.4 kmpl.

The Citroen C3 is built on the company’s C-cubed platform, which will introduce many new models made in India. Visually, the car looks similar to the Citroen, from the chevron (brand logo) to the dual-tone treatment with contrast inserts and heavy cladding. Really, the car looks like a baby C5 and that’s not a bad thing. Citroen will offer the car in around 10 exterior color combinations, including two dual-tone options and several customization options. Other features will include sporty alloy wheels, roof rails, and more.

The rear seat is quite spacious and quite generous in terms of space, but you don’t get rear AC vents.

Inside, the Citroen C3 comes with a well-maintained cabin with two interior trim options – Anodized Gray and Zesty Orange, with the latter offering a two-tone color treatment. The vibrant panel on the dashboard matches the exterior shade of the car, while the air-con vents with glossy black bezels. Customers will also get the option of up to an eight-seat cover, and a place to attach a smartphone clamp. The Citroen C3 also comes with a 2,540 mm wheelbase and 315-litre boot space.

In terms of features, the Citroen C3 gets a stick-out infotainment display with a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen unit. It offers the Mirror Screen function to simulate the performance of driver’s smartphone apps like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also gets a flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel along with other features like auto climate control, USB charger, and 12V socket.
