New look to Delhi Cantonment Railway Station, see the new design here

India’s age-old Delhi Cantonment Railway Station will soon be redeveloped into a world-class establishment for the convenience of commuters. The railway station will be constructed at a cost of Rs 335 crore and is expected to be completed within 30 months. Indian Railways is redeveloping stations with ‘world class’ facilities to give a better travel experience to the passengers.

After much brainstorming, Indian Railways has finally shared a new look on Twitter. “Mighty Transformation: A look at the proposed design of Delhi Cantonment Railway Station, to be redeveloped into a world-class establishment,” read the tweet.

Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited Request for Proposal (RFP) for the redevelopment of Delhi Cantonment Railway Station. The upgradation work will be done under engineering, procurement and construction model and will focus on easy access to the station, ample parking and all facilities required for the convenience of the passengers.

The renovated Delhi Cantonment Railway Station will have the following facilities:

The revamped Delhi Cantonment Railway Station will have an elevated road for easy access, which will enable easy drop-off of passengers. There will also be separate arrival and departure areas at the station to avoid chaos.

Information desk will also be available at the railway station along with food joints like cleanliness facilities, escalators, lifts, airports.

The station roof will have a skylight-style integration to make the most of daylight. Also, CCTV cameras will be installed at the station for the safety of the passengers.

To make it eco-friendly, the station will be free from single-use plastic. The station will also have an upgraded parking space for cars and taxis.
