New MG4 EV tested in extreme conditions

Earlier this month, MG Motor revealed its upcoming electric car, the new MG4 EV, based on the brand new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) battery architecture. This is the first model based on this new platform which can propel vehicles with wheelbase between 2,650 mm to 3,100 mm. MG says this new architecture is designed to maximize battery efficiency and to assess this, the company took four test mules in tough, cold conditions to check output across all of its driving modes.

The new platform also offers more space, and hence the MG4 EV measures 4,287 mm tall, 1,836 mm wide and 1,504 mm tall. It also allows for a unique styling of the car which is quite aggressive and is quite evident in the images that surfaced. Unlike the MG ZS EV, the face of the MG4 EV is completely different from the rest of the company’s cars. It’s cleaner and the space for the front grille is really simple and clean, while the nose slops down instead of tilting up like in the MG ZS EV. The simplicity continues with sleek looking headlamps with vertical LED DRLs. At the rear, the strong character lines continue from the profile, and the rear is completed by a double-rear roof spoiler with chiselled tail lamps.
