all rounder Colin de Grandhomme The Black Caps on Monday said they have been ruled out of New Zealand’s remaining Test series against England due to a heel injury. After the 35-year-old bowled only 3.5 overs in England’s second innings in the first Test, a scan revealed a tear on his right heel. New Zealand went down 1-0 in the three-match series after losing by five wickets in the Test match at Lord’s on Sunday.

Coach Gary Stead said de Grandhomme would take 10 to 12 weeks to recover.

“It’s really a shame for Colin to suffer this injury so early in the series,” Stead said.

“He is a big part of our Test team and we will definitely miss him.”

De Grandhomme will be replaced in the squad by 31-year-old Michael Bracewell, who was already in the squad for the first Test as cover for Henry Nicholls.

“It’s great to be able to call on someone like Michael who has been with the team for the past month and is ready for the match.”
