Newbie in struggle for table top spot

When Gujarat Titans faced Lucknow Super Giants among those making their IPL debuts at the Wankhede Stadium, not many could have predicted what would happen next for them. Six weeks later, the freshmen are again in the fight for the top spot.

Even though the winner of Tuesday’s match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium will formally see their first team in the IPL 2022 playoffs, both the teams are equally good. Now there is a race to decide the table-topper.

Hardik Pandya’s Titans – having lost their last two games – will be desperate to get back into winning positions. On the other hand, KL Rahul’s Super Giants will be hoping to extend their four-match winning streak.

While Rahul will be gunning to close Jos Buttler’s Orange Cap, the Lucknow pace quartet will be eager to repeat their heroics at the same venue against Kolkata Knight Riders over the weekend.

Banking on Gilo

The Titans, however, will be relying on Shubman Gill to join the party in the subsequent innings of Mohsin Khan & Co and the left-arm duo of David Miller and Rahul Tewatia.
