Newborn girls will get bank account, Aadhar card in government hospitals of North West Delhi. Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: From Friday, the parents of the girl child will make out with her birth certificate, Aadhar card and a bank account at government hospitals in North West district.
The administration will also gift a souvenir to the parents, containing the child’s footprints and a photo.
District Magistrate Cheshta Yadav said the ‘Little Pari’ initiative aims to provide a one-stop solution to parents, eliminating the need for them to visit various offices to get documents.
“Many parents run here and there to get their child’s Aadhaar and birth certificate. We wanted to decentralize our document-making machinery so that they do not face any problem,” Yadav told PTI.
The official said he discussed the idea with Aadhaar officials and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and they immediately got on board.
While the initiative will start at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on Friday, three other hospitals in the district – Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital – will launch the scheme next week.
Among the four hospitals, Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital has the highest number of births in a day between 50 and 65.
Yadav said banks were not enrolling beneficiaries under the Centre’s ‘Sukanya Samridhi Yojana’ and the Delhi government’s ‘Ladli’ scheme in the absence of birth certificates and Aadhaar cards.
“We have set up a ‘Little Pari’ helpdesk near the gynecological ward of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The help desk will have officials from MCDs, banks and Aadhaar units to ensure that the parents of the girl child have these documents. are. discharged,” she said.
Yadav also expressed hope that this initiative will give a boost to institutional deliveries. “If the discharge happens early, the parents can come to the hospital to collect the documents as their records will be saved,” he said.
Talking about the initiative, another official said that “social depression” over the birth of a girl child is still prevalent and the administration wants to tell the parents that it is an occasion to celebrate.
“Also, the hospitals are far away from the district offices where documents are made. We didn’t want the parents to wander here and there,” the official said.
Yadav said that if the initiative is successful, the administration may expand its scope to include children as well.
