Nine peacocks found dead on agricultural land

U.N. near Tholsampatti on Friday. Carcasses of nine peacocks and three chickens were found near an agricultural land in Maramangalam village.

On information, police, forest and revenue department officials reached the spot. On enquiry, it was found that some farmers of the area had kept rat poison to kill the rats which were damaging the crops on their land. The peacocks and chickens who consumed that rat poison died. The Forest Department is inquiring with the local farmers in this regard.
