NITI Aayog gets new CEO: Former IAS officer BVR Subrahmanyam was on Monday appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog. He succeeds Parameswaran Iyer, who has been named Executive Director of the World Bank.

Notably, Subrahmanyam, a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, was appointed as the chairman and managing director of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) on a contract basis for a period of two years after his retirement last year. was appointed in September 30.

An order by the Personnel Ministry said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Subrahmanyam for a period of two years from the date of his assumption of charge. Iyer, who is serving as the CEO of NITI Aayog, has been appointed as the Executive Director of the World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC, USA for a term of three years. He will replace Rajesh Khullar, a 1988-batch IAS officer, who has been sent back to his cadre state Haryana, the order said.

Iyer was appointed as the CEO of NITI Aayog with effect from June 24, 2022, for a period of two years. In another order, Rajesh Rai has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of public sector undertaking ITI Limited for a period of five years. Rai is at present General Manager in Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL).
