NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday lauded Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for effectively using electricity for development.

The two leaders of rival parties shared the stage at a function in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Pawar said, “I am attending the function as I was told that (Mr) Gadkari is going to inaugurate several projects in Ahmednagar, which will solve the long pending issues of the city, and he wants that I may be present.”

The NCP leader said, “Once there is stone pelting for a project, often nothing happens, but when it comes to Gadkari’s projects, the work starts within a few days of the celebrations.”

Pawar said, “(Mr) Gadkari is a great example of how a public representative can work for the development of the country.”

The NCP chief said, “I remember that earlier (Mr.) Gadkari had taken over (of the road transport and highways ministry), about 5,000 km of work had been done. But after he took over, the figure crossed 12,000 km. did it.” said.

The former Union Agriculture Minister advised the farmers of the region that the use of sugarcane would not be limited to sugar production and they should also think of it as a raw material for ethanol.

In his speech, Shri Gadkari said that while executing road projects in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) also cleaned local rivers and streams.

“I suggest (Maharashtra Rural Development Minister) Hasan Mushrif to think about focusing on water conservation in Ahmednagar district,” he said.

NCP leader Mr. Mushrif, who is also the guardian minister of this dry district, was present at the function.

Gadkari said that increasing the depth of rivers and ponds helps in increasing the groundwater level.
