Before a. In blog postSeema Patil had shared that despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle she was diagnosed with cancer, writing, “I am Seema, and I am, or was probably the healthiest and fittest person I knew. I did everything I could to stay healthy and felt nothing could slow me down physically until I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2021.”

Sharing her journey further, Seema Patil wrote, “Stage 2 cancer and not more than 2 years old. The past few months have been a blurry and emotional roller coaster since my diagnosis. I was in shock, and maybe I still am. Until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t spoken to anyone about my cancer except my family and a few friends. While I am generally a private person, I went through all the trials and negotiations trying to find the best doctor and realized that I might not even be talking about it because like mental illness, cancer too is our country. I have a taboo.”

Seeing how she found out about her cancer diagnosis, Seema wrote, “I have been getting regular whole body health check-ups for many years now. This time my mammogram showed a small lump in my right breast. Even though I had no symptoms, I decided to visit an oncologist, who did a biopsy, followed by a PET scan, which confirmed that the lump was cancerous and localized to the breasts. Since then I have spoken to many oncologists and they have all reiterated the same thing – how important regular health check-ups are.”

Sharing the importance of regular health check-ups, he said, “Today, cancer is curable as long as it is not too late to be detected. I use every opportunity to talk about the importance of health check-ups. Even if you look and feel healthy. As a lesson from reading this, I would love if you could talk to as many people as possible about the importance of regular health checkups.”
