No alliance, will go it alone from next year: BSP supremo Mayawati

The leader also objected to elections being held with the help of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and insisted that in future all elections should be conducted through ballot paper only.

Mayawati said, “There is something wrong with the EVM, some are breaking it, during the time of ballot paper, our number of seats and percentage of votes used to increase in all elections. Voting should be done through ballot paper again.”

The announcement of going it alone in the upcoming elections is being seen as a clarification ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, BSP and SP contested the elections together and the alliance won only 15 out of 80 parliamentary seats.
